An End without End

"... If the certainty of having to die was accepted by the individual as soon as possible, he would lose the existential pains - hatred, envy and jealousy. And no longer have any fears. Our relationships are such brutal games with one another because we don't recognize our end as something positive. It is positive because it's real. The end is concrete life. The body must understand death..." - R. W. Fassbinder, 1978.
